Aarefah Mosavi spoke against the hiring of former Mt. SAC Equal Employment Opportunity Programs Director Lorraine Jones at the Riverside Community College District Board of Trustees meeting on April 5.

Mosavi has accused Jones of covering up her rape while she was a student at Mt. SAC.

Several of her supporters were also listed to speak during the comments from the public portion of the meeting. The speakers wanted to pass their time to Mosavi with the hopes of her being able to have enough time.

Sarah Amro and Jose Venegas both attempted to give their time to Mosavi but RCCD Board of Trustees President Virginia Blumenthal informed them that doing so is not a practice of the Board.

“I felt like I was being lied to by Virginia Blumenthal,” Mosavi said to Viewpoints after her speech concluded. “Because I know that there are faculty members who have spoken for at least 15 minutes and they have been allowed their time.”

Following the conclusion of the scheduled agenda, the Board of Trustees allowed Mosavi 10 additional minutes to finish her statement.
