Uber, the taxi-like service, will increase its rates by 25 percent in the area, said Uber’s Inland Empire General Manager Christopher Ballard in an email sent out to users of the mobile app.

The car service had lowered its rates earlier this year as a way to attract more riders to use the service.

“We promised that if those rate cuts didn’t work for driver-partners as well, fares would go back up,” Ballard said. “Uber only works when it’s working well for both riders and drivers.”

Uber believes fares will not reach the higher rate that was asked of riders in December 2015.

“These changes should mean less surge pricing and lower waiting times as more drivers will be on the road,” Ballard added.
