School has begun and RCC students have been studying all over town. From libraries to coffee shops, a lot of local areas are filled with hard workers that are determined to reach their goals. Studying locally gives students many opportunities and advantages for their education.

Back To The Grind is not only great for lunch, but for studying as well. “Since I don’t have a car yet, I always study at places that are close by. I usually just take the bus from RCC to the terminal, cross the street and I’m here,” said RCC student, Lynzi Caldwell.

Students who study there say it is a calm environment and increases their focus while working on homework due to the great art work, relaxing music and access to food and drinks. “It’s nice because you have the food, the drinks, the nice sofas, art, it really creates a unique, wonderful atmosphere,” Mishaela Padilla says as she has her text books in one hand and a cup of coffee in the other.

Bobby Patriquin, an RCC student, studies at the RCC Library after his Chemistry class. “I enjoy studying here because the resources are easy to get and I am able to use the Internet for free,” Patriquin said. “The Library has a quiet environment and easy access to textbooks and computers.”

Other places to study downtown would be The Coffee Bean, Starbucks and the Riverside Public Library.

If students want to study somewhere closer, the Digital Library is available. Everyday students study there in between classes.

Tutoring is open for RCC students as well in the MLK building in Room 232 for all subjects. Monday and Wednesday at 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Tuesday and Thursday at 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Friday at 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Tutorial services include assistance in essay writing, math, chemistry, history and more.

There will be a Study Skills workshop held by RCC counselors October 20 at 12:50-1:50pm in Quadrangle Room 215. This workshop is held for students who need more advice and help with studying.
