The record-breaking kid was at it again at the Orange Empire Conference Championships hosted by Saddleback College on April 27.

Adrien Deloffre broke his personal best and the previous record set by him at Riverside City College, he swam a time of 2:05.68, easily taking first place in the men’s 200-yard breaststroke.

Another first place winner for the Tigers was Sedtavut Nilaad in the men’s 1650-yard freestyle with a time of 16:42.10, beating Golden West College and Orange Coast College swimmers.

Although Nilaad improved from this season, he wants to keep a consistency going into state championships.

Other winners include Emily Dunkerson, winner of the women’s 1-meter and 3-meter dive, she also won the women’s diver of the year award.

“It felt great and I was really shocked I won the award because this is my first year diving and the other divers have been doing it for a while,” Dunkerson said.

Jenny Collier also placed, receiving second place in the women’s 1650-yard freestyle with a time of 18:52.60.

“The 1650 was a battle both mentally and physically but thankfully my coaches helped to prepare me physically,” Collier said.

While the Tigers placed they felt disappointed over not getting to defeat Golden West College.

“Disappointing yeah, but it was kind of expected, their team has always been pretty solid, but we definitely showed them that we can compete with them,” Justin Rohn said.

Rohn helped the men’s team place second in the 400-yard freestyle relay coming in just behind Golden West College.

The Rustlers were able to build on momentum from their previous matches and achieved a similar result in the OEC Championships. Their men’s team placed first while their women’s team placed right behind Orange Coast College.

The Tigers’ final meet of the season will be State Championships which are scheduled to be at the CCCAA Championships from April 30 to May 2 in East Los Angeles.
