Written by James H. Williams

Jim Miyashiro confirmed that he will retire as the police chief for the Riverside Community College District.

“I don’t know yet,” said Miyashiro regarding his plans after RCC. “‘There is a lot of things I still want to do. Part of it is just relax and have a slower pace.”

Miyashiro has been with RCCD for eight years.

According to the district’s faculty minutes from the Sept. 22 minutes, he has worked out his schedule to continue on a part time basis until December.

The police will report to Michael Simmons, the director of risk management, for all administrative matters.
