Following negotiations with the city of Riverside, Live Nation now operates the Fox Performing Arts Center.
Fox PAC was put under operation by Live Nation Dec. 1. The new operator hopes to promote a wider spectrum of entertainment more frequently. One of its main focuses is bringing in more live acts.
Live Nation is a concert promotion company with a worldwide enterprise that produces more than 20,000 shows annually for more than 2,000 artists.
“I am excited for Midtown Men, I heard it is coming to Fox Theater,” said Daniel Garcia, a Riverside City College transfer student.
Fox PAC underwent renovations in 2010 in order to preserve Riverside’s natural history and bring in customers.
Over the course of the years the Fox PAC has brought in artists such as Colbie Caillat, Boz Scaggs and Willie Nelson.
“I think they had stupid stuff there and were probably losing money. I hope they bring bigger names to the table” said Scott Montgomery, an RCC student.
New Talents and Big names are on their way, including upcoming shows Jason Mraz, Leanne Rhymes, Trace Adkins and Wayne Brady.
Since its renovation in 2010, the city has struggled to bring greater revenue but with new ownership and a larger staff, their comeback should amount to a larger variety of people. Ticket sales are starting to increase. Currently box office hours are now offered to make ticket sales more convenient, rather than having to pay additional fees through a ticket service.
This is the fourth time the performing art center has been purchased as one of Riverside’s historical landmarks. Visit the website at www.foxriversidelive.com for ticketing information.
For the record: In the original running of this story in the March 27 issue of Viewpoints on Page 2, the headline stated that the Fox PAC was bought by Live Nation. In actuality the city of Riverside hired Live Nation to be the operator of the Fox PAC.
