The Riverside City College Tigers were eliminated from playoff contention on May 25 in a game against the Sierra College Wolverines. The 6-1 win over the Tigers advances the Wolverines to the state championship and officially puts an end to the Tigers’ season. The Wolverines jumped on the Tigers in the third inning and kept the lead throughout the game. The Tigers had their chances throughout the game, loading up the bases in the fourth but only scoring one run. Sierra essentially shut out the Tigers throughout the rest of the game.

Men’s Track and Field

The RCC men’s track and field team won the state championships on May 17. The Tigers racked up 112 points throughout the championships. The closest team to the Tigers was Sacramento City College with 67 points. Ennis Jones won the 400 meters with a time of 46.67 seconds, while Stephen May took the 800 with a time of 1:53.58. The 400 meter relay team of Jones, Dylan Nelson, Duke Greer, and Daniel Auberry also took first place with a blazing time of 40.27 seconds. Other scorers for the Tigers included Kevin Rodgers with a jump of 24 feet 4 inches in the long jump, Joshua Como with jump of 51-4 in the triple jump, and Sammy Jeter with a time of 52.8 in the 400 Intermediate Hurdles

Women’s Track and Field

The RCC women’s track and field team finished fourth overall in the state championships on May 17. Cerritos college took the state championship with 101 points overall. Arriana Celis finished sixth in the 1500 with a time of 4:55.05. The 400-meter relay team of Brittany Manuel, Djquara Jackson, Sharayza Jackson, and Moriah Jubrey got third place with a time of 47.32 seconds. The team also claimed fourth place in the 1600 meter relay with a time of 3:49.86. The fourth place finish secured fourth place for the team overall.
