Reports of a death on the Riverside City College campus have been confirmed. The body was discovered near the parking structure on the morning of Jan. 29.
There was an “unattended death,” Hank Rosenfeld, Director of Campus Saftey and Police Safety on campus said. “By definition, nobody was around to see what happened.”
“We had assistance from the Riverside Police Department and the Coroner’s Office,” Rosenfeld said. “All we can say is that, at this point in time there are no signs of foul play.”
“What we know at this point is that the deceased was a middle-aged male, there was no indication of foul play, and no indication that the individual was associated with the College,” Jim Parsons said in an e-mail sent to the faculty and staff of Riverside City College.
Parsons is the Associate Vice Chancellor of Public Affairs at the college.
Identification of the deceased is still unknown pending the completion of the coroner’s report and notification of next of kin.
Officials have declined to release any further information until the conclusion of the investigation.
Further reports will be made available as the story develops.
