Riverside Community College held its first homeWater Polo match on Sept. 14 against Santa Ana. RCC had the lead going into halftime thanks to their great defense and aggressive offense. After halftime, RCC’s offense continued to be explosive with a goal by Zac Skelton with 2:02 in the second half. But Santa Ana responded with a goal with 1:43 left on the close of the quarter. Brad Marsile for RCC also had a big goal in the second half. Jurica Mazuran for RCC held key blocks on defense, strengthening their lead to 10-4 in the last period. RCC scored again from Donnnie Holderman, Brett Case and Justin Delatore, leaving Santa Ana searching for answers. In the end, Santa Ana was no match for RCC, as the men’s water polo team cruised to an easy victory.

In the previous tournament in Ventura, RCC proved that tournament play was just a fluke. Scoring 11 goals on the Sept. 9 event, RCC scored only 9 in the last two matches of the tournament. The Tigers overall record is now 2-7 and 1-0 in the league. Even though the Tigers won two matches in Ventura, it was counted as a forfeit. RCC played a player who was left off the college’s Form C. The Tigers next match will be on Sept. 23 at the Cal Baptist Tournament, their next home game will be Sept. 28.
