The journalism program at RCC will be offering a special class that does not come around too often. Journalism 2 will be taught by Mr. Jim Burns who has extensive experience in journalism. Below is some information about the class and what will be taught.

Riverside City College plans to offer Journalism 2 – Intermediate Reporting/Newswriting for the 2014 summer semester.

The class will emphasize writing and reporting for multiple platforms, including online. Students will learn multimedia skills, such as interviewing for video, writing for social media and presenting the news online with Google+, Google Tools, Storify and Twitter.

Students will also learn how to cover public affairs beats such as city councils, schools boards and other government agencies.

The three-unit class is scheduled to meet in Digital Library Room 108 from June 23 through July 31, from 10 a.m. to 12:05 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays.

To qualify for enrollment in Journalism 2, students must first complete Journalism 1. Both courses are included in the Journalism program’s new transfer degree.
