Phillip Seymour Hoffman brings Truman Capote’s story to life, 21 years after his death.

“Capote” focuses on the writing of Truman Capote’s important novel “In Cold Blood,” which tells the true story of two men who brutally murdered a Kansas family in their home.

As he researches the story, Capote becomes emotionally involved with one of the killers and begins an internal battle over whether or not to save his friend or forsake him in order to finish his book.

Hoffman recreates every odd quirk of Capote, from his high-pitched voice to his effeminate movements, and absolutely deserves the Academy Award for best actor. The film is outstanding in its subtle nature and its powerful acting that comes from not only Hoffman but from Catherine Keener as well.
