Riverside City College Police Chief Jim Miyashiro said in a e-mail to the Riverside Community College District that a male was arrested June 2 after a female student reported a suspect being in the women’s restroom.
Miyashiro said RCC police officers were called to the music building at Riverside campus at 11:30 a.m. where a male suspect was hiding in one of the bathroom stalls in the women’s restroom south of the building.
He said a RCC female student reported the incident after she thought the suspect was trying to take photos under other stalls.
He said RCC police officers entered the women’s restroom then saw the suspect trying to leave the restroom and the officers made the arrest.
Miyashiro said the suspect is a 26-year-old African-American with black hair, brown eyes and is 6′ 2″ and 178 pounds.
He said the suspect is in custody and a photo of the suspect is not going to be released anytime soon because the RCC police will be using the photo of the suspect in a photo line-up to see if other witnesses can identify the suspect.
Miyashiro did not say if the suspect is the same person from a similar incident in January where a RCC female student said an African-American male was in the next stall attempting to take photos of her using the restroom.
Update as of June 3:
Riverside City College Police Chief Jim Miyashiro said RCC Police Officer Jim Beckham was the first on the scene at around 11:30 a.m. to investigate a report of a male suspect inside the women’s restroom on the south side of the music building on June 2.
Upon arrival Beckham contacted a witness that stated a male subject was in one of the restroom’s stalls.
“The witness stated she thought he might be trying to take pictures under other stalls,” Miyashiro said.
Officers entered the restroom and arrested the suspect as he was attempting to leave the restroom. Miyashiro said the suspect did not resist arrest.
“The suspect did posses evidence indicating his intent to knowingly go into the women’s restroom,” Miyashiro said.
Miyashiro said suspect’s name is Antonio Taylor.
He said that Taylor was cited and released the same day as his arrest.
Miyashiro further said that Taylor’s court date is set for early July.
He also said Taylor is not a student at RCC.
