Doug Figueroa, the current Associated Student of Riverside City College President, is expected to serve another term after being named the only candidate to run for the position.
ASRCC elections are scheduled to take place on April 30th and May 1st, 2013.
Figueroa was in a similar situation last spring, in which he ran without opposition in the final stage of the election.
During the 2012 election, ASRCC presidential candidate Giovanni AviƱa took his name off the ballot due to personal reasons.
The Viewpoints newspaper staff reached out to speak with Figueroa but he declined to comment.
Figueroa’s current term is set to expire at the end of the spring semester in June.
He is running for re-election with current ASRCC Vice President Miguel Bagsit.
Students were given a chance to run for the positions and become a candidate by filling out an application packet before April 16.
Only six applications were given out to interested students but none were brought back in according to Figueroa, during his speech at a public forum.
Figueroa was recently in the news, prior to RCC’s spring break, as word got out that he was a registered sex offender.
During his speech, Figueroa also took the time to address what took place in his past and the media in general.
