A screening of the comically campy cult classic, “The Rocky Horror Picture Show”, will be presented in the Digital Library Auditorium on Oct. 30 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
The rambunctious rock and roll musical is led by the character Dr. Frank N. Furter, a self-proclaimed “sweet transvestite from Transsexual, Transylvania.” The film has a long- running 40 year tradition of bringing audiences together to participate in all of the amusement.
This event will be hosted by the Gender and Sexualities Awareness Club (GSA). Prior to the screening there will be a discussion panel regarding queer mental and sexual health from 4-6 p.m.
Students should look for a poster created by the GSA, which will read “You’re not alone”, displayed outside of the auditorium. According to the GSA, the poster was made to represent the need in the queer community to have a safe space and support. It is also intended for any other person on the Riverside City College campus who might be feeling anxious or alone.
There will be a costume contest as well as food and refreshments provided for attendees.
