Riverside is observing its first 9/11 Day of Service September 11 to honor the memory of the heroes and victims of what President Obama called the “worst terrorist attack” in U.S. history, by uniting the community.
The Riverside tribute begins with an early breakfast at City Hall to raise money for the local police and fire foundations. Commemorations will continue outside of City Hall with a recognition ceremony and a clean-up event.
LifeStream will be holding blood drives at various locations, including on campus on the corner of Terracina Drive and Mine’ Okubo Avenue from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Donors will receive a commemorative Patriot Day t-shirt and a Baker’s meal gift card.
A closing ceremony of musical performance with special recognitions for all those who helped put the event together will take place at 6 p.m. at La Sierra University’s Glory of God’s Grace Plaza.
