Over 400 students walked onto the stage during the 97th Riverside City College Commencement Ceremony held on the Wheelock Field June 13.
The 2014 class was led onto the field by newly elected ASRCC President Ray Orozco and Vice President Ryan Rudolph.
Acting RCC President Dr. Wolde-Ab Isaac and ASRCC President Doug Figueroa began the ceremony with opening remarks.
“The recognition we are due today is just the beginning of many more things to come but as for hard work that we have invested here at RCC, it is up to us to achieve greater success,” Figueroa said during the ceremony.
Speakers at the event included RCC Associate Professor Rhonda Taube, former Riverside Mayor Ronald Loveridge and student speaker Nadine Lyder.
Lyder, a member of the 2014 graduating class, reminded students that they did not reach success on their own but with the help of family and loved ones.
She was able to speak from personal experience about her grandmother and the values she learned from her about education.
