It was another weekday morning driving to work and attending school for most, but to Riverside City College men’s and women’s cross country team it was a chance at a conference title.
The men’s cross country team finished in first place while the women placed fifth at the Southern California Preview Championships hosted by the Orange Empire Conference on Sept. 16.
Leading the Riverside City College cross-country team (placing first among his teammates six out of seven times), Joshua Silva has high expectations for his future despite some setbacks earlier in his athletic career.

The Riverside City College men’s cross country team is ranked No. 2 in Southern California.
Freshman Joshua Silva was the Tigers’ top finisher on the four mile course during the Golden West College Invitational meet on Sept. 25. Silva was fourth overall in a field of 180 runners after finishing with a time of 21 mintues and 14 seconds.
