Riverside City College waited until the start of finals week to close Parking Lot B, located in front of the Math and Science building, due to the construction process on the students services building. The parking lot will be closed from Dec. 8, 2014 through April 2016.
Faculty/staff parking will be available in Lots C & D, Fairfax Avenue, Mine Okubo Avenue, and the parking structure.
UPDATE (Dec. 8 6:32 p.m.):
Campus police will be directing staff and students of Riverside City College to the nearest available parking lots, according to an e-mail sent out to faculty and staff.
The parking situation was assessed on Dec. 8 and at least 400 spaces have reminded available in the parking structure located on campus.
There will be a total of 32 parking spots (19 handicap and 14 staff parking spots) available during the construction of Lot B.
While noise was consider a distraction on the first day of finals week, the college expects the noise to be minimal for the rest of the week.
The fence is expected to be done before 8 a.m. Dec. 9. The e-mail also states that the only other activity that would cause minimal noise is equipment being dropped off and asphalt being removed on Wednesday and Thursday.
The asphalt will be dumped and loaded into trucks on Dec. 12.
The college has continued to explore its options for alternative parking spots for staff and students of the upcoming spring and fall semester. The members of RCC are expected to be given an advanced notice.
