After a devastating, 16-3, loss to Orange Empire Conference rivals Saddleback, the Riverside City College Softball team bounced back with a, 6-5, win at Allan Hancock, and tried to continue the win streak against Cypress on Feb. 24, where the Chargers defeated RCC, 5-1.
The Chargers did most of the damage in the first inning after two errors from Tigers’ third base Antoinette Perez and shortstop Danielle Lopez gave Cypress a 2-0 lead in the game.
Tigers’ head coach Michelle Daddona said there is still time for improvements to be made.
“We need to dominate on our defense and help the pitcher out,” she said after the game. “At least it’s the first round and we know what we need to work on when we meet again.”
The Tigers were able to control the game until late innings when Cypress charged up and scored three more runs.
RCC was tied down to one run and two hits the whole game. The Tigers will try to redeem themselves Feb. 26 when they face Santa Ana on the road at 2 p.m.
