Riverside 51 Ventura 37: The Tigers battled against the visiting Ventura College in the Southern California Regional semifinal game. Quarterback Nicholas King, who was named the Player of the Game, completed 22 of 30 passes (zero interceptions) for 259 yards and two touchdowns. Freshman runningback Christopher Anderson, who was named Riverside’s Most Valuable Player (of the game) broke off a 51-yard touchdown run with only 2:22 left on the clock and helped RCC build the final 51-37 margin. Next week Riverside will host Mount. San Antonio College in the Southern California Regional Championship game.
Women’s Water polo
Fullerton College 8 Riverside 7: In a triple overtime (sudden death madness) over the Tigers at the state championship game (Nov. 22) marked the second time that a (CCCAA, et al) women’s water polo state championship game was decided in triple overtime. RCC were led by Alia McMorris, who had three goals and two assist, defender Melissa Woody and attacker Brandi Carroll each scored one goal while goalie Katia Montoya had eight saves.
Cross-Country
The women’s cross-country team placed a strong sixth place finish with a time of 1 hour 37 minutes and 36 seconds in the team race. Brianna Jacklin finished eighteenth in the individual race with a time of 6 minutes and 19 seconds. The men’s cross country team finished twelfth in the team race with a time of 1 hour 48 minutes and 30 seconds.
