Riveride City College womens’ softball team can look forward to two fantastic players returning to its squad next season. Freshman outfielder Stephanie Aguilar and freshman infielder Krystal Lovato were selected to the Orange Empire Conference team.

Aguilar had a .333 batting average throughout the season, and ended with 15 runs batted in. She also had four home runs and 13 runs scored, which were tops on the team.

Lovato led the team with a .400 batting average and 22 hits during the season. Not only was she able to make it on base a number of times, Lovato only struck out four times in 51 at bats.

“These girls did a great job for us this season. They deserve to be on all conference team,” said Coach Michelle Daddona-Moya.

The women struggled throughout the season to get into a groove and win the games they needed. They finished with an overall record of 17-26, and a conference record of 6-12. This didn’t stop them from recognizing the progress they made and the improvement they need to make.

With players like Aguilar and Lovato, RCC’s fastpitch team has the ability to do big things next year. These women have an offensive prowess that can win games and catch fire to their other teammates.

With the possibility of most of its women returning next season, the Tigers will soon get back on the ball and bring a winning season back to RCC.
