Women’s water polo team advance to 9-1 overall

Winning their tenth game of the season Riverside City College women’s water polo took the win 15-6 against Orange Coast College in the Cuesta College Tournament on Oct. 2.

The Tigers lead the scoreboard 5-2 in the first quarter and 11-6 after the third quarter.

Freshman attacker Mary Myers led with three goals, two assists, and seven steals.

The Tigers defeated Saddleback College, 17-6, after leading in every quarter in Mission Viejo on Sept. 30.

This was the team’s second Orange Empire Conference (OEC) game of the season.

After the first quarter the Riverside City College water polo team scored a 5-2 led against the Gauchos and later ended the third quarter with a 15-4 lead.

Freshman goalkeeper Ariana Olmos lead in saves with a total of five saves. Sophomore goalkeeper Kayla Chang had a total of four saves against the Gauchos.

Leading the scoreboard was freshman attacker Sarina Briseno who have four goals, two assist, and two steals.

RCC’s women’s water polo team has won nine of its last 10 games only losing to San Diego Mesa College 6-5 in the Chaffey tournament.

RCC previously traveled to Golden West College on Sept. 23 to bring home another win in the OEC. The Tigers took the win against the Rustlers 7-6 in the fourth quarter after falling behind at half time.

Freshman two-meter offensive player Emily Martin led the scoreboard with four goals that day,while Chang had 11 saves.

The Tigers are scheduled to play against the Orange Coast College in the Cuesta Tournament on Oct. 2.
