A Riverside City College faculty member reported a man committing a lewd act in the basement area of the Quadrangle near Room 22-A at approximately 5 p.m. on July 13.

RCCD Police responded to the call; however, the suspect had already left the area when officers arrived. The suspect was described as a “husky man wearing long shorts and gym shoes.”

According to an email sent to faculty and staff by RCCD Police Chief Jim Miyashiro, officers will be doing extra patrol checks.

“Any individual loitering in an area where they do not belong should be referred to our police department. We have had a large increase of homeless population on our college grounds, several of them have been arrested for illegal activity,” Miyashiro stated in the email. “Alternatively, we do have many referral services available for those who need assistance, so please do not hesitate to call on us.”

All are encouraged to be aware of their surroundings when on campus and to report any suspicious behavior to RCCD dispatch at 951-222-8000 ext. 8171, or call 911 in the case of an emergency.
