The Tiger’s swim team looked motivated as they won convincingly against Orange Coast College and Santa Ana College 182-93 on March 27 at the Riverside Aquatics Complex.

The atmosphere was spirited, as the teams competed feverishly, to the delight of the fans in attendance. The real winners were the women and men who placed high in their solo events, such as RCC’s Jenny Collier, who won two events, including the Women’s 500 yard freestyle and the 1650 freestyle.

Other winners include Chiara Minutello, who won the Women’s 200 yard breaststroke with a time of 2:46.36, and Madison Sandoval, winner of the Women’s 200 yard backstroke with a lightning fast time of 2:24.17, outpacing her closest opponent by more than eight seconds.

Though she did not win an individual event, Aubrey Imbriani played an important role in the Tigers’ victory by competing in a team high four events, including the Women’s 500 yard freestyle, for which she took second place.

On the men’s side,  Adrien Deloffre was a multiple event winner, taking first place in both the Men’s 200 yard freestyle and the 200 yard breaststroke. Other first place winners for the Tigers were Garret Shimko in the 500 freestyle, Daniel Ghomi in the 100 yard freestyle, and Brandon Seay in the 200 fly.

“I think we did great, we came together, first and second in almost every event, I think we did what we needed to do,” said Brandon Seay of the RCC Men’s team.

While the Tigers Men’s team enjoyed the spoils of victory today, the Tigers Women’s team fell short to Orange Coast College in total points, 145-129, with Coast’s Alexa Clayfield winning both of her events once again, the Women’s 100 yard backstroke and 200 yard IM.

The Pirates were able to build on momentum from their previous matches against Golden West and Cypress College two weeks ago, and they achieved the same result against the Tigers.

The next time these teams meet will be April 3 at RCC to compete in the RCC Invitational, at 11 a.m.
