ASRCC helps out needy students

ASRCC is providing care packages for students in need. Any students who need basic toiletries should go to Student Services in the Bradshaw Center, where care packages will be handed out on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.Students will be asked for their student ID to make sure they are RCC students, however, their names will not be recorded.

The beauty of Spanish music

The UCR Department of Music will be dedicating the evening of May 15 to Spanish music. The concert will be held from 8-9:30 p.m. in the Arts Building Performance Lab, ARTS Room 166. For ticket information, call 951-827-4331.

UCR showcases Chinese culture

UCR will be host to Chinese Culture Night, which showcases the uniqueness of their culture through a live stage performance. The event will be held May 16 from 7-10 p.m. The show is free and open to the public.For more information, call 951-827-7272.

A call for all art students

The Riverside Art Exchange will be hosting an event at Back to the Grind on May 31 from 2-9 p.m. RCC students and local artists will have a chance to showcase their art, as well as purchase others. There are 25 display booths available for $10 each.RCC students will receive a 10 percent discount on booth fees and any food or beverage served at Back to the Grind.For more information, call 951-784-0800.

RCC students ‘Celebrate Dance’

The Riverside City College Dance Department is hosting “Celebrate Dance,” an exhibition of dance, movement and performances by RCC students.The event will be held in the Landis Auditorium from May 21-23 at 8 p.m.For ticket information, contact the Landis Box Office at 951-222-8100.

A presidential honor

The Digital Library Auditorium will be hosting the RCC Presidents Honor Recital on May 20 at 7 p.m. The concert features performances by music scholarship recipients. The concert is free and open to the public.

The tragic art of war

The California Museum of Photography will be showing an exhibit by Goro Nakamura, Dinh Q. Lê, Doan Duc Minh and Binh Danh symbolizing the widespread tragedy of war and its silent legacies.The event will be held May 16 from 12-5 p.m.Admission is $3 for the general public.

“Coffee House” music

The RCC Chamber Singers will present “Coffee House,” May 29 at 7 p.m. The event will be held in the Bradshaw Cafeteria and will feature a musical performance and desserts.General admission is $10.

Recognizing RCC’s heroes

The RCC Veterans Committee is having a Memorial Day Recognition ceremony May 21 from 12:50-1:50 p.m. in the A.G. Paul Quadrangle.The event welcomes the 729 veterans enrolled in the Riverside Community College District.Vietnam veteran and Purple Heart recipient Robert Simonson will be the keynote speaker. There will also be a fly over featuring three World War II vintage planes around 1:15 p.m.For more information contact, 951-222-8402.
