WebAdvisor made easy

A workshop teaching students how to use WebAdvisor will take place May 12 at 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. in the Business Education building, room 10. To RSVP, email your full name and time of attendance to admissionsriverside@rcc.edu.

UCR theatre serves ‘Two Masters’

The UC Riverside Department of theatre is performing “The Servant of Two Masters,” a play performed in the Italian Renaissance style comedia dell’Arte.The play is a farce featuring mistaken identities, star crossed lovers and physical comedy. The show runs at the Arts Building Studio Theatre May 7-16 at 8 p.m. and May 16 at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are $14 for general admission and $12 for students.For more information, call the fine arts ticket office at 951-827-4331.

So you need a job?

RCC will be holding its 30th Annual Career and Job Fair on May 6 in the A.G. Paul Quadrangle.The event will be hosted by Starbucks, and will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.Representatives include Wells Fargo, Soboba Casino, Fed-Ex Ground, Jack in the Box, U.S Border Patrol, Vons, Kaiser Permanente, Child Care Careers, Time Warner Cable, Amtrak, U.S Probation Office, Caltrans and many more.

Musicians, poets and writers wanted

The Riverside Underground Poetry Organization holds an open mic. night every Monday at 9 p.m. at Back to the Grind coffee shop in Downtown Riverside.All writers, musicians, poets and performers are welcome, RCC Students receive a 10 percent discount on all food and coffee drinks.For more information, call 951-784-0800.

A swingin good time

A tribute concert for Duke Ellington and Count Basie featuring performances by the tribute to Duke Ellington High School Honor Band, tribute to Count Basie Middle School Honor Band and the RCC Jazz Ensemble will be held in the Digital Library Auditorium May 17 at 4 p.m.Tickets are $8 for general admission and $6 for students and seniors.

Jazz comes to life at RCC

The RCC Jazz Festival will take place all day May 8 and 9 at the Landis Performing Arts Center, the Digital Library Auditorium and the Bradshaw Center.The festival will feature performances by the RCC Jazz Ensemble, as well as, jazz harpist Lori Andrews and bassist Bart Samolis. There will also be performances by many local high school and middle school jazz ensembles. All performances are free and open to the public.

Transfer opportunities for scientists

For those interested in science, technology, engineering or math (STEM) and planning to transfer to a university, there will be an early experience transfer program in August.The five day STEM professions institute at UC Riverside will introduce interested students to the various STEM careers and the research and transfer opportunities offered by UCR.Participants will be eligible for a $300 book and school supply voucher, explore major and career options, learn about summer research oportunities, take a campus tour and live on campus for five days.Interested parties are invited to attend an information session on May 6 from 4:30-5:30 p.m. Sessions are at the Moreno Valley campus in PSC 11.For more information, contact Sylvia Trejo-Sigala at 951-571-6258 or silvia.trejo@rcc.edu.
