Rape, harassment and assault, all charges that all users of MySpace.com are either a victim of, or accused of.

I, personally have my own MySpace account, it is the most popular Web site today. Which brings a question, how safe is MySpace?

MySpace is a Web site that connects 70 million in the United States and some parts of the world. They use this Web site without thinking about the risks of its use. Since its establishment, there have been many police reports from coast to coast.

The rape of a 14-year-old in Chicago; the assault of another girl in New Hampshire; and even the harassment of Shanna Moakler; estranged wife to Travis Barker, drummer of Blink 182, here in California. Do you know how safe you really are when you’re on MySpace?

You have to know, this is the risk you take whenever you use a Web site like this. No one is ever completely safe on any Web site like this. If you use this, you use it at your own risk.

Don’t add random people to be your friends list just because you want to have a bigger friends list than your other friends. Girls don’t add guys you don’t know, because you think they’re cute.

To those who are still young, don’t lie about your age so you can bait more guys to your page, you might get some unwanted attention.

Always use caution every time you start checking your comments. Check for spyware and anything like it. You might not think they’re 100 percent, but it’s better to be safe than sorry.

You might think, “So what, I don’t have that many friends to begin with, what could happen to me?” You’d actually be surprised what one of those random people you added could do with a little bit of HTML knowledge can do in a couple seconds. It doesn’t take an ace hacker to get into your profile and all your information around.

No internet social site is safe, even if you think you are, not even dating sites. There are predators everywhere on the internet, no surprise there right? Even the MySpace internal security person, who is a security expert, can’t guarantee anyone’s safety, under any circumstance. We should all use common sense, when establishing relationships on Myspace or any other socially related sites, where anyone can contact you.

So what do we all know now about MySpace and the internet? They’re dangerous. Don’t get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with having a MySpace profile, but don’t ever fool yourself into thinking that you’re safe every time you sign on.

Even America Online Instant Messenger, Yahoo chats, Pal Talk and ICQ are filled with sexual predators looking to take advantage of minors for sexual encounters.

Also there are minors who do seek sexual adventures with older people, and say so openly. And on MySpace they lie about their age on the profile pages, and exhibit provocative photos, featuring sexually suggestive positions. It’s easy to understand why people desire to add them as friends and establish relationships with them.
