The Tigers fell short in the playoff game on Nov. 19 against a tough opponent, El Camino. The tigers faced defeat the first time they were matched against them in their regular season.
The Tigers matched El Camino touchdown for touchdown in the first couple of possessions. The score was tied 22-22 into the half. Unfortunately, El Camino was too strong on the offensive side of the ball, scoring 35 unanswered points.
The Tigers had 105 rushing yards and 167 passing yards. On the other hand, El Camino had 202 rushing yards, and a booming 386 passing yards. The Tigers had 272 total yards, while El Camino had 588 total yards. Anthony Andre lead the Tigers in rushing with a total of 45 yards, he also lead the team in passing, throwing for 167 yards.
Davonte Shipp also played a big game for the Tigers with a 97 yard kick off return. Adam Wright had a busy night with 12.5 tackles.Brian Flowers lead El Camino in rushing, running for 116 yards on 19 carries.
Lyle Moevao, also of El Camino, threw for 373 yards.
The Tigers looked very good and explosive in the first half, but the same steam that carried them in the first half seemed to be missing in the second half. The Tigers were unable to score any points in the second half, while El Camino produced 378 passing yards.
El Camino went into the game ranked at No. 2 in the country, while the Tigers are ranked 25th in the country. El Camino quarterback had an amazing game through the air.
Throughout the game the Tigers looked sharp; unfortunately they were beating themselves up with many penalties.
This was the Tigers first appearance in the playoffs in twelve years and there best finish under coach Bill Brown.
The game was a lot closer than the score showed. The Tigers were no “push-over” for the No.2 team in the country. They produced some positive points matching El Camino at 22.
The Tigers had a good season and hope to have a better season next year. They put up a good season winning a division championship and ended the season with a 7-4 record. The Tigers hope to repeat the same thing next year and win their back-to-back title.
