With football season right around the corner the Tigers have to prepare for their quest: conference champions. Bill Brown has been the assistant coach for 15 years and the head coach for three years at Riverside Community College. “What keeps me here is the administration.
Since World War II, veterans have received benefits for their active duty. These benefits included health care at a Veterans hospital and job training. Veterans also received free education assistance, if they had an honorable discharge. Isaac Conyers III, a retired school teacher in Riverside, remembers the free education he received after his discharge.
Every weekday, students of the Riverside Community College Cosmetology program work to perfect their cutting, clipping and manicuring skills. With over 240 female students perfecting their new trade, only nine students are male. One of the nine is Raul Canizales. OK, so everyone knows how the movie is going to end. However, like “Titanic,” even though we know the results, it is the events surrounding the end that draw us like moths to the flame. Hayden Christensen returns as young Skywalker, now battle hardened after three years in the trenches of the clone wars. As always, his master and best friend Obi Wan Kenobi, played by Ewan McGregor, is beside him.
Summertime is here again and that means three things: sun, sand and Hollywood unloading its most explosive movies of the year. In years past, blockbusters such as “Spiderman,” “X-Men,” and “Minority Report” have led the way. This year, the marathon of summer movie greatness begins with “Kingdom of Heaven. With all of the summer blockbusters coming out, the upcoming vacation should be anything but boring. Audiences will laugh, cry, and hide under their seats from aliens with lasers. Personally, I can’t wait.
For all of the “drearies” and “normals,” System of a Down may be too much to handle, but for die-hard fans its music is euphony. Unlike Green Day, System of a Down doesn’t sugarcoat its music to make it sound cute and pop-like. And it outweighs Weezer surpassing mediocrity. This band is the real thing. It don’t whine about issues, it speak out and inform people about them. That is something most people don’t have the courage to do … “Mezmerize” is an audio revolution that you can’t refuse to listen to. Living in America is political, so those that don’t like the band’s message can get over it. This is a voice worth listening to.
Now that the “Star Wars” saga has ended where it started, it seems right to take a pause and remember the many facets of the series, including its illegitimate offspring.
