Athletes at Riverside Community College continue to show their hard work state wide as the season progresses. Both women and men, swimmers as well as a few divers, are setting times that are going on state list performances.

The women’s team of 16 is composed of 13 swimmers and three divers. Neither team has broken any college records this season, but their bull’s eye is simply to have top performances and be able to compete at the state championship if possible.

“I think we will be in top ten of the state,” said women’s coach David Almquist.

But even though breaking school records is not a goal for either team, a possibility exists.

“The guys will probably break a record in the 200 medley relay,” Almquist said.

The women’s team has had great performances through out the season.”Our girls have a chance to win the conference,” Almquist said.

The women’s swimming team has previously had great season’s, and this one will not be the exception. Both teams have many more invitationals to face, as well as the great possibility of making it all the way to the state championships.

The men’s conference score is currently 2-1 while the women are a perfect 3-0 in the Orange Empire Conference.

“Our dual meet record is pretty strong, we have not lost a dual meet in women’s swimming in over six years,” said Almquist.
