There is not a lot of action going on, that is until you see the “dead” body.

A mock crime scene investigation was put on May 27 by students of the Criminal Investigation class on campus.

Originally slated for 12:40 p.m., the crime scene demonstration was already in progress at 12:20 p.m.

Instructor Mike Joyce has been teaching criminal investigation classes for 30 years.

He began teaching in 1983 and started the advanced class in 2002.

Joyce has more than enough experience for teaching Criminal Investigation class on campus. He was a homicide detective for 10 years and worked in the DA office for 16 years.

Students were allowed to approach the crime scene and talk to the student investigators as long as they didn’t cross the yellow tape.

The students involved conducted the simulation of a crime scene in a professional manner by staying in character. One of the investigators, Travis Causey, gave the mock scene most of its air of realism by questioning bystanders.
