‘Experience’ a new ‘Vision’
The “World Vision Experience: AIDS” exhibit is a chance for visitors to examine the African AIDS crisis up close.
The experience is an interactive tour through an African village and the life of a child who has been affected by AIDS.
The exhibit is at The Grove Community Church from Oct. 18-25.

The largest children’s consignment sale in the Inland Empire is Oct. 16-19 at the Riverside Community Church. Consignors are wanted to participate and earn extra money by selling unused or gently used children’s clothing.

Designing for the season
Riverside City College President Jan Muto is inviting all RCC students to enter the President’s Holiday Card Contest.
All entries must be submitted to the president’s office by Oct. 30 and should be the size of a folded 5×7 card.

An evening with Maya Angelou
Author, actress, director and civil-rights activist Maya Angelou will be speaking at UC Riverside on Oct. 22 at 8 p.m.
Tickets for priority seating range from $30-$55, while general seating is $25-$45.

‘Nobody said anything about the full monty’
When they lose their jobs, a group of steelworkers decide to risk it all by putting together a strip show in “The Full Monty.” The show is playing at the Landis Performing Arts Center from Oct. 22-24 at 8 p.m. and Oct. 24 and 25 at 2 p.m.
Tickets are $10 for pre-sale and $15 at the door.

An animated afternoon with Erick Oh
Artist Erick Oh will be a guest speaker in the Digital Library Auditorium on Oct. 13 at 2:30 p.m.
The award winning animator is currently in the Master of Film program at UCLA. His work also includes illustration, painting and photography.
It’s planting time!
For all horticultural enthusiasts, UC Riverside is having the 26th Annual Friends of UCR Botanic Gardens Fall Plant sale.
With almost 10,000 plants for sale there will be plenty of varieties including some rare and exotic selections. There will also be water-efficient and California native plants available.
The event is on Oct. 17 from 12-5 p.m. and will have experts and volunteers on hand to help those without green thumbs.
