Women’s water polo finished the season 35-0 and won their second state championship in three years. Melissa de Jonckheere won the state championship MVP by scoring three goals against American River in the championship game. Jennifer Grutz and Tania Acevedo were also named to the all-tournament team.
Men’s Cross Country came in twelfth at their state championships in Fresno. Though he was disappointed with their result, head coach Jim McCarron is excited about next year’s team. McCarron was also named conference coach of the year. Mike Munoz, Juan Ruiz, Steve Kreuger, Mark Sampson, and Adam Abilez were all named to the all-conference team.
Men’s Water Polo had three players named to the All-American team, including its two top scorers Srdan Millic and Chris Knowles. Also making the team was goalie Jesse Owens.
Dec. 4-8 men’s basketball will be hosting the 38th annual Wells Fargo Holiday Tournament. With fifteen other teams competing, it will be the largest tournament in the state. Tickets are $5 for adults, $2 for children 12 and under, and free to children under 12 and current Riverside Community College District students.
